Mid-South Chess is an organization devoted to the development of students through the game of chess. This company started because its founders recognized the importance that chess can make in the lives of students, and we recognized that we had the ability and the opportunity to bring the experience to others. Mid-South Chess looks forward to continued growth and strives towards excellence. It is often said that “Chess is an Art, a Science, and a Sport” but it is also a lot of Fun!

History
Starting with one annual program – the Mid-South Chess Camp – in 2001, Mid-South Chess has grown to be a fully integrated educational consortium. Mid-South Chess coordinates scholastic chess programs in both public and private schools, placing instructors, managing curriculum, providing opportunities for practice thru club outlets, and organizing competition via tournaments. Our capstone event is still the annual summer chess camp. This event brings instructors of the highest caliber to Memphis, such as International Grandmasters, former US Champions, US Chess Hall of Fame Inductees, and even a former Women’s World Champion.
